gbi Awarded at the 2022 Quebec Consulting Engineering Grands Prix

MONTREAL, September 28, 2022 – gbi was an award recipient at the 2022 Quebec Consulting Engineering Grands Prix! gbi was extremely proud to be selected and presented with the award in the Buildings- Mechanical/Electrical category at the awards ceremony held last night at the Casino de Montréal for its Mobile Sterilization Unit.

Organized by the Quebec Association of Consulting Engineering Firms, this competition has been highlighting expertise and outstanding projects in the engineering sector for the past 20 years. 

Having already won two awards in 2020, in addition to the Visionary Award in 2021, gbi was a finalist this year for two of its projects: its Mobile Sterilization Unit for the Centre Intégré de Santé et des Services Sociaux (CISSS) des Laurentides in the Buildings – Mechanical/Electrical category, and its Reconstruction of Rue Saint-Antoine and Construction of a Stormwater Outfall for the City of Contrecœur in the urban infrastructure category.

Mobile Sterilization Unit

It should be noted that the CISSS des Laurentides chose gbi to design Quebec’s first mobile medical device reprocessing unit thanks to our superior technical skills.

This remarkable project required creative solutions, as it involved installing the unit at the l’Hôpital de Mont-Laurier, then relocating it and installing it at the Hôpital de Saint-Jérôme. The unit’s mobility is a true innovation that modernizes two workplaces, while continuing to provide a service essential for hospitals.

Reconstruction of Rue Saint-Antoine and Construction of a Stormwater Outfall

The project allows the community and City of Contrecoeur to separately manage the stormwater that accumulates in the streets, treat it, and then channel it to the river, thus reducing the volume of water sent to the water treatment plant.

Our infrastructure teams carefully drafted the six-phase master plan and incorporated the largest systems available on the market to support the neighbouring area.

This cost-effective, clean solution helps improve the quality of the water of the St. Lawrence River.
