gbi, winner of the Rimouski Lab-École project

Congratulations to Mathieu Charbonneau and his team, a great success from gbi!

The organization “Lab-École” created an architectural design competition, “Imagining the schools of tomorrow, together: the Lab-École”. More than 160 proposals were presented for the creation of these schools.

gbi joined forces with the architects at Lapointe Magne & Associés and L’œuf to present the Rimouski Lab-École project, of the des Phares School Board.

gbi actively participated in this great project, with our colleague Mathieu Charbonneau at the helm

We planned the entire mechanical and electrical portion of this school under the direction of Mathieu Charbonneau, assisted by Maxime Boisclair and Dave Sirois.

The gbi team stood out by proposing the following concepts in particular:

  • Natural ventilation.
  • Displacement ventilation in the gym.
  • Radiant heating and cooling floors, connected to a geothermal system and allowing for energy recovery.
  • LED lighting following the circadian rhythm.
  • Mechanical systems allowing for a 41% reduction in energy compared to the national energy code for buildings.

Lab-École wants the school construction projects to continue, despite the current situation, so that students and staff can occupy their new premises in August 2022.
