Pier-Alexandre Hénault: the team player

When he is not on a construction site, Pier-Alexandre enjoys playing music and participating in motor sports in his free time. He’s hard-working and curious, and never backs down from any challenge that comes his way.

With a college diploma in civil engineering technology and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Laval University, this up-and-coming young engineer describes himself as “a team player.”

Why did you choose civil engineering?

“It was a transition for me,” explains Pier-Alexandre. “I started out in music at CEGEP, but it wasn’t really what I wanted to do. So, I took a vocational test to help me find my way. It was then that I discovered that I loved mathematics and design. That’s what motivated me to learn more about civil engineering.”

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

“Learning every day and developing my independence,” Pier-Alexandre says. “Last summer, I was fortunate enough to have my first supervisory experience on a job site. It was a project to extend the infrastructure and build sewers, aqueducts and retention basins in Saint-Ambroise-de-Kildare. I’m very proud of that opportunity, which was also a great challenge.”

Why did you choose gbi?

“I wanted to find a job that would allow me to stay in my region and I had heard good things about the company from classmates in CEGEP,” says Pier-Alexandre. “Two of my school friends were working for gbi at the time and they told me about their experiences.”

What sets gbi apart from its competitors?

“I like how close my job is and the support within the company,” he says. “The Joliette office is very much like a family, and I appreciate the relationship I have with my team. The working conditions are also excellent.”

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

“I see myself standing on my own two feet and being a project manager for gbi,” says Pier-Alexandre. “I would like to specialize in infrastructure and do more complex system design for larger projects.”
