gbi participated in the final covering project for cells 1 and 2 of the City of Matane’s technical landfill site, covering an area of around 14,000 m2. The work also included the installation of biogas extraction wells, as well as the installation of granular materials and geosynthetics. Furthermore, the project involved developing new cells, 4A, 4B and 5, over approximately 18,000 m2, with a multi-layer liner system using clay, as well as a leachate and stormwater drainage system.
For this project, the firm produced the design and estimates, was responsible for stakeholder coordination, prepared the preliminary and final plans and specifications and the ministerial authorization application, assisted during the invitation to tender, analyzed bids, and provided office supervision, site supervision (with residence) and quality control for all the infrastructure to be produced.
As it was located on clayey soil, which results in unstable ground during construction, it was necessary to build a temporary access road so as not to disrupt internal traffic at the technical landfill site. Furthermore, our teams had to apply waterproofing to the cell walls using a bentonite wall.
We believe in our employee’s ability to help us create a world rooted in our values of continuous innovation, responsible management and sustainable development.
