Expansion of the Cégep de L’Assomption
his expansion project, which involved extending the Rue Dorval to Boulevard L’Ange-Gardien wing, included six new classrooms, six laboratory rooms, a childcare centre, a student café, a gym, a multi-purpose room, as well as a clinic for the visual orthotics technical program. gbi had to ensure that the construction work’s impact on school operations was kept to a minimum.

A project with ambitious energy-saving objectives, which respects the school’s heritage.
Among the noteworthy features of this project were the science laboratories, which were entirely designed according to the contamination mitigation and occupational health and safety measures prescribed by the standards. In order to meet energy objectives, gbi used geothermal energy for cooling and heating. Also, all work had to be done in an occupied area adjacent to the expansion under a tight schedule constrained by the start of the school year.
