Gatineau Wastewater Treatment Plant
Commissioned in 1982, the City of Gatineau’s wastewater treatment plant, which uses a conventional activated sludge process, has undergone several equipment and system addition, replacement and modification projects, as well as process optimization and capacity enhancement projects, among other work.

A large-scale project
114 projects will be carried out in 5 design/build packages.
Some of its equipment having reached the end of its useful life or having become obsolete, the City of Gatineau has launched a refurbishment and operational flexibility upgrade program for its wastewater treatment plant. This program includes work aimed at increasing its capacity by 2031. The required work also includes the construction of a secondary settling tank, a primary digester, a secondary sludge dewatering system and the replacement of various other systems.
As the lead for this project, gbi is responsible for the multidisciplinary teams of professionals and the construction management team, including administrative and technical aspects. Furthermore, gbi is in charge of developing plans for managing deadlines, costs and changes, the content and quality of the plans, risks and opportunities, procurement, facility commissioning, stakeholder communication and maintenance of operations.
