As part of Quebec City’s 400th anniversary, the Price Building, a regional heritage gem, was one of the priority landmarks to showcase. Following a call for tenders, our firm was selected and tasked with bringing to light a prestigious project with high expectations, at the heart of urban planning.
The dominant feature of the concept is, above all, its energy-efficient component, unique to this day in the deployment of the Capital Illumination Plan, proposed in 1998 by the Quebec National Capital Commission. Therefore, the main principles of sustainable development were taken into account by SITQ and its suppliers in the development of this project, to ensure energy efficiency and to facilitate maintenance of the lighting system. Some 280 light-emitting diode (LED) fixtures and projectors were installed. Furthermore, maintenance was minimized due to the long lifespan of these lighting systems, which is up to ten times that of traditional equipment. This use of LED lights to illuminate a building of this size is a first in Canada.
The illumination of the Price Building was the result of the work of a multidisciplinary team who worked in synergy to accentuate the building’s heritage aspect and its architectural elements, while paying attention to energy efficiency and lighting system maintenance.
We believe in our employee’s ability to help us create a world rooted in our values of continuous innovation, responsible management and sustainable development.
