gbi's mandate consists of the repair of an existing synthetic field and rainwater drainage adjacent to the winter stadium located at CEPSUM at the University of Montreal. This mandate stands out primarily for its innovative approach and commitment to sustainability, thus meeting the highest standards in quality, safety and user experience. The redesign of the synthetic pitch also aimed to create a playing surface that complied with the requirements of the FIFA standard.
Compliance with new stormwater management regulations in Montreal has introduced additional challenges, with the need to retrofit retention onto existing land. This approach has made a significant contribution to reducing water backup in the City of Montreal, involving careful optimization in the urban environment.
Initially, the synthetic pitch being considered impermeable by the city, steps were taken by gbi to obtain an exemption, thus demonstrating an adequate infiltration rate for a synthetic pitch. These steps resulted in significant financial savings for the client.
reduction temperature
years of durability
fewer injuries since the opening of the new field
One of the major characteristics of this project is the choice of synthetic covering composed of hybrid fibers 60 mm high, with green rubber filling material and a 20 millimeter underlay. This recommendation from the team is not only limited to aesthetic criteria, but it emphasizes the resistance, comfort, safety, and durability of the work depending on the intensive use of the land.
Although this is an important institutional mandate, the solutions developed for this field are also replicable on a smaller scale for municipalities or smaller infrastructures.
