gbi Honoured at the Grands Prix du Génie-Conseil Québécois 2021

gbi was proud to receive top honours at the Grands Prix du génie-conseil québécois 2021: the Visionary Award! Our groundbreaking Curé-Paquin elementary school project was recognized for its special value in terms of innovation, audacity and proactivity.

“I am very proud of the recognition that comes with this great award, directly linked to our motto: Embracing tomorrow’s engineering!” stated Pierre-Samuel Beaudoin, Vice President, Strategic Consulting and Senior Partner at gbi.

We would like to thank the members of the jury of the competition for their recognition of our project. And we’d also like to extend special thanks to our teams, our business partners, Leclerc Architectes, and, of course, our client, the Centre de services scolaire des Mille-Îles. Congratulations to all the award winners!

In addition to winning the 2021 ESTim Competition held by the Chambre de commerce de l’Est de Montréal (CCEM) in the sustainable development category, this is the first project in Quebec—and the first elementary school in Canada—to receive Zero Carbon Building© Standard Certification in the design category from the Canada Green Building Council. The Curé-Paquin elementary school is a flagship initiative for the other school service centres.

We would also like to congratulate our teams and business partner, the Société du parc Jean-Drapeau, for our fibre optics network project at Parc Jean-Drapeau, nominated in the telecommunications and new technologies category. As a catalyst for action in the move towards a “smart” city, this project contributes to the vitality of Montreal’s tourism industry and its visibility worldwide.
