Team

This large-scale project, which mobilizes all engineering specialties, is the result of exceptional teamwork from gbi's departments.

The project

  • Installation of a fourth pump and replacement of existing pump shafts;
  • Replacement of the three (3) variable frequency drives for existing pumps;
  • Replacement of most valves, taps, and air vents;
  • Implementation of an odor treatment system and a new ventilation system;
  • Installation of a new generator;
  • Replacement of the electrical transformer and underground power supply line to the station;
  • Replacement of the PLC and instrument cabling;
  • Replacement of plumbing, electrical, and heating systems;
  • Addition of grating walkways to secure maintenance operations on pump transmission shafts;
  • Expansion of the building, corrections to the exterior envelope, roof refurbishment, main door and frame replacement, and painting work.

Neighborhood

The building expansion allowed the city to add an activated carbon odor treatment system, thereby improving the quality of life for residents near the pumping station.

Improvements

The addition of a fourth pump to the pumping station will enhance its operation, which is crucial considering it is the largest pumping station in the city. Furthermore, the installation of FRP platforms around the pump transmission shafts will greatly facilitate and secure maintenance work in the pumping station.
